Lab purpose

Research on various issues related to the designing,  optimization, study and simulation of computer networks.

Equipment (or being planned)

  • Research workstations having the specialist optimisation software installed: IBM ILOG CPLEX, Gurobi Optimizer,
  • research workstations having the computer network simulation software installed: ns-2, ns-3, Cisco Packet Tracer, OPNET
  • network hardware made by Cisco:
    • WAN routers Cisco 2801,
    • Switches Cisco Catalyst 2960
  • (planned) network hardware supporting Software Defined Networks (switches, routers, network servers, traffic generator)

Current works/research

  • optimization of computer networks
  • network survivability
  • content-oriented networks
  • distributed computing systems
  • hierarchical networks
  • cloud computing
  • Peer-to-Peer and overlay systems
  • elastic optical networks
  • branch-and-bound and branch-and-cut methods for network optimization
  • Inteligent optimization techniques for network optimization

Planned works/research

Research in the field of optimization and analysis of Software Defined Networks

Planned development

Upgrading the laboratory with network equipment supporting Software Defined Networks (switches, routers, network servers, traffic generator).
